Archive for February, 2011

Corrine & Stephen were married early this February in a lovely ceremony at Fairmount United Methodist Church in the heart of Raleigh.

Melissa Kay of Melissa Kay Photography captured these beautiful images.

Gorgeous vintage touches on the bride’s shoes.

The groom is a fireman in Apex and the bride and groom chose to incorporate this important part of their lives into their big day by using a classic firetruck as their getaway car.

What a special moment between father and daughter.

Fairmont, only minutes from Downtown Raleigh, was a beautiful traditional venue for Corrine & Stephen’s ceremony.

Now that’s an exit in style!

The groom’s uncle did all the floral arrangements, including bouquets and centerpieces, as a special wedding gift for the bride and groom. Red can be a strong color, so these gorgeous white lilies add a softening effect.

Sweet Memories Bakery created the delicious cake. And our couple chose bride and groom inspired edible favors for the guests.

Vases filled with cherry cordial M&Ms served as edible centerpieces that incorporated the couple’s signature red color scheme and made for a fun table treat the guests loved!

Corrine & Stephen opted for a sweetheart table for just the two of them to enjoy their meal during the reception. This is a great way for the couple to share a few moments together just the two of them.

Congratulations, Stephen & Corrine!

Alison & Ariel were married this past December at the Judea-Reform Center in Durham.

Alison has a natural sense of style and fashion, and her stunning wedding dress did not disappoint!

The ladies got ready at The Washington Duke Inn.

The very talented photographer Martha Manning was there throughout the day to capture the many unique elements of Alison and Ariel’s big day.

Vintage touches, like the bride’s jewelry and the brooches in her bouquet, designed by Floral Dimensions, are a trend we are seeing throughout many weddings this year.

Ariel and Alison incorporated several traditional Jewish ceremonies throughout their big day. The first was the Tish, where the groom attempts to present a lecture on the Torah while his groomsmen and other guests jokingly disrupt his lecture. This is a great way for the groom and his guests to have fun and lighten the mood.

These photos are from the Bedekin ceremony where the groom places the veil over his bride. Before he sees his bride for the first time, the mother of the groom and the mother of the bride join the bride in greeting their guests.

We loved each unique tradition that made this wedding so memorable.

The cocktail hour featured damask print linens and a photograph from Alison and Ariel’s travels on each table.

Gmish set the mood for the evening’s ceremonies playing authentic Jewish instrument music.

Floral Dimensions did a spectacular job transforming the chuppah with an assortment of white flowers and baby’s breath.

John Hayes of Southern Video Design was there throughout the evening capturing every unforgettable moment on film.

Here’s a glimpse at another ceremony unique to Alison and Ariel’s Jewish faith,  the Benching is where blessings are sung to the bride and groom.

Ariel & Alison love to travel and wanted to incorporate this element of their lives into their reception. These escort cards feature a variety of stamps collected from their world travels.

The subtle frosted look of the centerpieces was perfect for their winter wedding.

Floating flowers in water is a simple way to add a lot to your reception centerpieces without spending a lot of money.

And of course there was plenty of dancing!

Congratulations, Alison & Ariel.

Here are some of the highlights of Shaina & Walter’s big day. This gorgeous winter wedding took place at Duke Chapel with a reception at The Carolina Inn. Both venues were the perfect backdrop for a day full of elegance and sophistication.

Michael McLamb of Fleurtations Weddings & Events did the simply stunning floral arrangements.

Thanks to F8 Photo Studios for capturing every perfect detail of Shaina & Walter’s special day.

Love the vintage detailing on Shaina’s dress, a popular trend this year.

Denise Hutter of Images by Denise did a beautiful job with the ladies’ hair and make-up.

The bride and groom are both singers. And as a special gift for her groom, the bride planned a surprise serenade of love songs she performed along with a few friends.

Little details, such as votives with floating flowers, give this table a romantic touch.

Centerpieces composed of twirled branches and delicate hanging flowers are the perfect way to make a stylish statement without overpowering the table or blocking the guests’ cross table conversations.

Nothing quite like the elegant southern class of The Carolina Inn.

Congratulations, Shaina & Walter!

What a wonderful week of new wedding dress offerings! I am in heaven!

We have been so excited for the launch of Anthropologie’s new wedding line, BHLDN (pronounced “Beholden”). We have a sneak peek of all of the wedding dresses along with a photo of one of the bridesmaid dresses, a fun, flirty coral number with a bubble hem. More on the collection: wedding dresses will range from $1,000 to $4,000, with bridesmaid and party dresses coming in between $200 and $600. BHLDN will also feature exclusive dresses by Tracy Reese, Fleur Wood, and Catherine Deane, as well as accessories from some of our favorites, including headpiece maven Jennifer Behr and jewelry designer Erickson Beamon.
